0.5.2 Super quick comes version 0.5.2 of FLY. Not much has changed, but its still worthy of a release! Get it here. (Are you tired of me saying that yet!)

Version 0.5.2 doesnt offer much visible change but it is in fact quite special. It uses the Gentoo stage3 2008.0 tarball as it's base. Previous to 0.5, FLY used the stage2 2007.0 tarball. When the final for 2008.0 was delayed further, I decided to use the 2008.0_beta2 for 0.5. That greatly simplified the building of FLY, but didnt really change much more. When the final for 2008.0 was released, Gentoo didnt release a stage2 tarball (stage1, 2, and 3 exist, with only stage3 being supported). Without a stage2, I had to choose between stage1 or stage3. Stage1 is also unsupported and apparently can be quite buggy, so I went with the stage3.

With this, I made quite a lot of modifications to the build scripts for FLY, and the result is a compile time half of what it used to be! The compile time for 0.5.2 was about 5 minutes shy of 7 hours. The compile time for 0.5.1 was a little over 16 hours!

Now, that aside, version 0.5.2 also includes three new applications: scrot, which is a screenshot utility, gqview, an image viewer, and netscape-flash, for Firefox. A few fixes to the Fluxbox menu have also been made.

And finally, one bug fix. It appears that when I modified the build scripts for 0.5.1, the file /root/.irssi/config was incorectly copied and instead sent to /root/.irssi/irssi/config. Thanks to nebriv and fr0natz for helping me with that one on IRC.

The update to the build script is simply for a very minor fix to the rsync command.
